Jonathan McLean Clinic 9th February 2013
Jonathan Mclean has had a long and successfully riding and eventing career. Starting as a teenager on King Island, Jonathan worked as a Jockey and Track rider. This ultimately lead to steeple chasing and hurdle racing in Tasmania, then to breaking in race horses with his brother Andrew Mclean. During this time Jonathan worked with Andrew and Manuela Mclean (Australian Equine Behavior Centre) to develop a training system which Jonathan still uses to this day.
Jonathan has spent time in Hong Kong, breaking in, training and trailing racehorses for the Hong Kong Jokey Club over a five year period. Jonathan is best known, however, for his success Equestrian discipline of Eventing. Kildalton Castle was Jonathan’s first three star horse, this horse successfully completed Australia’s first International *** event ever, held at Spray Farm in Victoria. Woodmount Lanark was Jonathan's most well known and sucessfull eventer, “Kellogs” carried Jonathan to two **** qualifications, and many wins and placings at international level.
Jonathan is based in Clonbinaine, 1 hour north of Melbourne, where he owns and runs a breaking in and re- training facility. Jonathan is a NCAS coach, and teaches clinics in Tasmania and Victoria.

Sue McKinnon and Lauren Phillips
Donvale fielded three teams, amongst the 94 teams in total, that attended this very well run and friendly event. A great change of venue after many years at the NEC in Werribee. Big congratulations to Lauren Phillips, Tegan Murphy, Katie Graham and Katie Wilkins from "The DARCness" team for bringing home 4th place overall. Tegan and Lauren were also Reserve Champions in their sections. The two other teams were "Permission to Land" (45th place overall) - Sue McKinnon on Serina, Jodie Bissicks on Lord Howard, Katie Wilkins on Go Bananas, and Claire Hartnett on Normandy, and "DARC Dualities" (55th place overall) - Jess Welch on Yardstick, Eleri Dear on Satruce, and Tim Coleman on Wicked Style.

Wandin Park Adult Riding Club Official HRCAV Showjumping
Sunday 9th September 2012
Anthony Lang and 'Ant's Horse'
Wandin ran a great looking event in some lovely Spring Weather. Anthony Lang went great guns in his second only showjumping event on 'Ant's Horse' A.K.A 'Maori's Gift' with two third places in Level 5 AM7 and 2 Phase. Tim Coleman and Eleri Dear also represented Donvale in Level 3. Tim took first place in the AM7 round. Second members, Jessica Welch and Rachael Hudak also did well with Jess taking two first places on 'Yardstick' and Rachael coming home with a lovely clear round on her young mare 'Coco' A.K.A. 'Impeccable Timing' (photograph above). Well done to all!
Merricks Saddle Club Official HRCAV Showjumping
Sunday 26th August 2012
Once you have seen the grounds at Merricks you will be wondering whether they would notice if you just moved in permanently. Not far from Hastings on the Frankston-Flinders Road, an hour from Donvale, the facility has large, warm, clubrooms, ample all-weather arenas, and is in a pretty bush setting. The courses looked great and were well designed, the ground crew organised, helpful and friendly. What more could you ask, aside a few million dollars to buy a property close by? Tim Coleman, Eleri Dear, Katie Graham and Claire Hartnett represented Donvale. Tim came first in Level 3 AM7 on Wicked Style and Claire came first in Level 2 AM3 and second in Level 2 AM7 on Normandy.
Lancefield Equestrian Group & Trentham Adult Riding Club
'A Jump in the Park' 25th & 26th August 2012
These two clubs combined forces to run a full weekend of showjumping. The grounds are around an hour and a half from Donvale and have good all-weather surfaces and facilities, not to mention a great group of members. Interesting courses and friendly judges made for a really enjoyable day out. Just two of us attended on the Saturday with the following results:
Katie Wilkins on Go Bananas did one round of Level 5 Top Score only and placed first.
Claire Hartnett on Normandy came first in both Level 2 A2 and AM5 to win Champion Level 2 for the day.
Thanks to Lancefield Equestrian Group and Trentham Adult Riding Club for a very well organised and great fun event.

Yarra Glen Hunt Club "Children's Hunt"
Saturday 7th July 2012
Sadly not as you might expect, no hunting of children allowed. Karen and Anthony went along despite this and had an absolute ball. The hunt was held at "Kobyboyne" beginning at a very civilised 11.00am start and at a more than reasonable price of $30.00 including day membership, insurance and lunch. Advertised as an opportunity to come out and enjoy a lovely couple of hours riding behind the Yarra Glen and Lilydale Hunt Club foxhounds. The property is undulating and very pretty to ride through. No previous hunting experience is necessary however they would prefer if your horses/ponies are well mannered when around other horses (if your horse has previously kicked another you must attach a red ribbon to it's tail). Hunt club members were on hand to assist all newcomers and jumping (the 80cm hunt panels) is entirely optional (non jumpers go through gates). Dress: pony club, adult riding uniforms or similar. Karen and Anthony recommend you give it a go!

TTT Horse Trials 2012
Bulla Adult Riding Club 19th & 20th May
Donvale fielded two teams for TTT Horse Trials this year. Results were moderate with the water posing a problem for a number of competitors. Karen Paine and Katie Wilkins did extremely well to get a couple of very green mares around the course. Featured is Katie on Maori's Gift (Bubby or Ant's Horse) and a picture of Karen and Silverado Girl (Silver) can be viewed in Horse Deals Online at http://www.horsedeals.com.au/index.php?p=event&e=17182-HRCAV-TTT-Horse-Trials-Bulla-ARC&PHPSESSID=cvwdiqsd
Congatulations to Eleri Dear, Jess Stevens, and Tim Coleman who all rode for Donvale for the first time and represented the club wonderfully. Thanks go to Bulla Adult Riding Club for running a great event.
